Collaborative Cultural Projects
From 2003 onwards, GeoAIR organizes and supports inter¬national exchange projects with the goal of strengthening the Georgian and Caucasian art world, bringing together artists from different cultural backgrounds and fin¬ding relevant contexts for them to work in. Besides this, GeoAIR stimulates and raises awareness and engagement with art and culture from this region. GeoAIR works to¬gether with international individuals and organizations that share the same goals. GeoAIR has also become, over the past years, an ‘intermediary’ for individuals and organi¬zations that seek connection with the arts in Georgia and Caucasus.
In 2007 GeoAIR has instantiated ‚Archidrome‘ Contem¬porary Art Archive. ‚Archidrome‘ serves as a presentation room where artist‘s talks, meetings, discussions and pre¬sentations take place. Archidrome invites local as well as foreign artist for presentations and lectures that concern the cultural events in the region. ‚Archidrome‘ contains growing number of portfolios of individual artists and art collectives as well as catalogues and printed material from Georgia and Caucasus.
Since January 2010, GeoAIR runs a residency program in Tbilisi, Georgia, which offers primarily curators and cul¬ture producers the opportunity to base themselves in Tbilisi and use this location as a starting point to build networks, meet artists, cultural institutions and curators from the Caucasus region. GeoAIR residency does not pro¬pose a set program or conditions. Instead it is responsive to ideas and opportunities that emerge from our network and proposed resident projects.
