The mission of the Center is to popularize the new forms and achievements in contemporary art created by Bulgarian and foreign artists and to serve as a cultural platform. The Center carries out an educative function by allowing the public to attend and become acquainted with cultural events and contemporary art products. The mission of Art Today is to form a new cultural space which will engage in its activities society, local institutions and professionals in the field of contemporary art from Bulgaria and abroad. The events and activities realized at the Center have contributed to the development and the popularization of the contemporary cultural environment in Bulgaria arising in the transition period (the last two decades).
Main activities include:
WEEK OF CONTEMPORARY ART which has been realized since 1995 and is an annual international project, presenting authors who work in the sphere of new media, object, installation, photography, performance, alternative dance, music, theatre, theoretical seminars and presentations
ART POSITIVE has been organized since 2004. The project encourages the creation of contemporary art works by authors who work in Plovdiv.
ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM gives opportunity to artists and critics from all over the world to reside and realise art projects.
MULTIMEDIA LABORATORY– technical equipment and expert for realisation of projects in the sphere of digital media: video art, net art, CD-ROM, etc.
